About Architecture
Architecture is the Science and Art of planning, designing and constructing cities, spaces and structures to reflect functional, technical, social, environmental and aesthetic considerations. An architect designs residential, commercial, industrial and public buildings and spaces.

The gamut of work deals with the structural design, layout , circulation, conservation, restoration, and interior design work of false ceilings, flooring, wall finishes, fixtures, services like electricity, plumbing, cable, piped gas, telephone, ac cooling and heating, acoustics, security systems, cost estimation, material selection and smart technology.

Important Exams
NATA.
National Aptitude Test in Architecture is conducted by the Council of Architecture COA. This score is applicable for admission to most private and government aided and unaided architecture colleges in India. The number of attempts for applicants each year has been changing between 2 to 4, to allow better scores.

JEEMAIN2.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN 2 is conducted by the NTA.  This score is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board and is also accepted by some private and State Colleges of Architecture.  From 2019 two attempts are allowed and the better score is accepted.

MAH-AR-CET.
Maharashtra Architecture Common Entrance Test was conducted by Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra and the score was valid for admission to State Government Colleges. This test was stopped a few years ago and valid NATA scores are now accepted for these institutes.

In Maharashtra admissions to Architecture colleges are done in 4 ways

  1. via State Common Entrance Test Cell

  3. via Direct application to some private autonomous colleges
  4. via Direct application to some colleges for reservation quotas under minority, management, schedule castes and tribes, etc.

  • A   – Std 12 in the science stream with minimum 50% in PCM & 50% in overall marks.
  • B   – Passing one or more of the common entrance exams for architecture-nata or jeemain2
  • 50/50 weightage is given to A and B at the time of admissions
ACADEMIC
Students after std 12, will require to complete a 5 year college study and gain a Bachelor of Architecture Degree
